Cancun, Mexico attractions and top flights? Most of Cancún’s top resorts are built with direct access to the beaches, known locally as “playas.” You’ll enjoy stunning views over the sparkling, crystal-clear waters that make this destination so popular with tourists seeking a memorable Mexico vacation. Cancún, in fact, consists of a number of long stretches of beach, and while regular visitors may have their preferences, it’s certainly hard to go wrong-they’re all nice and have something great to offer. Among the most popular playas are de las Perlas, Juventud, Linda, Langosta, Tortugas, Caracol, and Chac-mool, some of them lying alongside the Boulevard Cancún and the Paseo Kukulkán all the way from the city boundary (of these, Tortugas, Caracol, and Chac-mool tend to be the busiest). Also of interest is the seven-and-a-half-kilometer-long Paseo Kukulkán, alongside which is an 18-hole public golf course known as Pok-ta-Pok.

Isla is more laid-back and tranquil than Cancun, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do, it just means you can do nothing at all or fill your day with shopping, snorkeling, exploring, eating the freshest seafood in the Mexican Caribbean and drinking in that special magical atmosphere that is Isla Mujeres. Rent a golf cart or bicycle to explore the island and see the sites, take a yoga class and get a massage. Walk around Centro and admire the Sea Wall Murals, discover a hidden treasure in one of the many shops, finding the perfect souvenirs for your family and friends. Snorkel, scuba dive or go fishing and most importantly… relax and enjoy the warm turquoise water, white sand beaches and friendly charm of the people of Isla Mujeres. For the more adventurous, take a day trip to Isla Contoy, a natural wildlife reserve and bird sanctuary. Swim with the Dolphins, Whale Sharks or Sailfish. “Catch the Big One” on a deep sea fishing trip and dive the world famous MUSA, the largest underwater sculpture museum. Spend a day visiting eco theme parks Xcaret, Xel-Ha, or Xplor. Swim in a Cenote and discover the Civilization of the Maya at Tulum, Chichen Itza, Coba and El Mecco.

Punta Sur: Punta Sur is located on the southern tip of Isla Mujeres. Here you can visit the Pre-Colombian Mayan Ruins of Ixchel, or simply admire the stunning views. Garrafon Reef Park is also located here and is home to the Sculpture Garden. In 2001 the Sebastian Foundation and 23 famous artists from Mexico and around the world created sculptures to represent the Mayan civilisation. Walk Around Centro & Admire The Sea Wall Murals: As responsible travellers, we’re all for the preservation of our world’s ocean and we were delighted to see the ‘Sea Wall Murals’ of Isla Mujeres. These murals were created by various top street artists from around the world to raise awareness of marine species threatened by extinction in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.

The Whale Shark is on the endangered species list, so having the opportunity to swim with these magnificent creatures is going to leave a strong impression. The Yucatan peninsula is one of the places where you can swim with these large harmless creatures – an adult can reach 12 m long and can weight up to 20 tons, making them the largest known fish. Baby whale sharks are very playful and known to play with swimmers. The best time to swim with the sharks is between June and September. Tours leave from Cancun, Isla Mujeres, or Isla Holbox.

Being surrounded by water means some of the fun things to do in Isla Mujeres occur under the water. You can snorkel and scuba dive all around the island and there are dozens of companies that will take you out on a scuba or snorkel tour to see many types of corral and colorful tropical fish including sailfish from December to June. From June to September you can swim with giant Whale Sharks and anytime of the year is great to swim in the National Park that’s filled with the MUSA Underwater Sculpture Museum’s sculptures. Coco Bongo is the most popular club in Cancun. They have acrobats, cover bands and DJs who spice up the night. It’s kind of a mix between nightclub and Vegas show! The City Nightclub features celebrity DJs like Tiesto, Fergie and Paul Van Dyk who perform on a regular basis. With three floors and nine bars, the club can hold up to 5000 people each night. Mandala Beach Club is the place to go for a bikini party. This outdoor house music club opens daily at 9:30 PM, offering great music and delicious tropical cocktails.
